Next Steps

Joining a NextGen event is just the start of an exciting journey. We’d love to help you think about what your next steps could be to find your place in God’s global plan.
Here are a few options to explore.

  • bible-study

Take a course: look into the Bible’s big story for yourself

The Bible is the foundation of our passion to share Jesus Christ with the world. So it’s the best place to start as you explore God’s global plan. Perhaps you’d like to dig deeper into what the Bible has to say about God’s global mission. MomentumYes is a free 6 session course helping you do just that. It’s really practical too, helping you think through how we can transform the world when we say yes to Jesus.

    Try short-term mission

A short-term mission trip for a few months can be a great way to explore God’s calling for your life. It gives you a real insight into cross-cultural living and how God might use you. A cross-cultural experience can transform your perspective and opportunities to share Jesus’ love at home, as well as overseas. A short-term experience can also be a great way to explore whether serving cross-culturally longer-term is a good option for you. There are many great short-term mission programmes, which help arrange your placement, but also help you prepare to cross cultures well.

  • Welcome International People

International migration means there are opportunities for many of us to get involved in reaching out to the nations right on our doorsteps. And it’s not as hard as you might think. It can be as simple as inviting someone for a cup of tea and starting a conversation.

Lots of great organisations can offer advice and support along the way, such as Friends International, working with international students, and Welcome Churches. OMF UK offers a free course on understanding East Asian worldview.

  • read-a-book

    Read a book

Reading missionary biographies and books about different parts of the world that you’re passionate about can fuel your passion for the Lord and give a practical encouragement and challenge. While there are lots of missionary biographies from historical figures, there are increasingly modern stories that show God’s faithfulness today. Plus, there’s a lot we can learn from Christians around the world and their perspectives on the Bible and the Church.

    Get a mentor

While courses and books can all help, there’s no substitute for someone who knows you personally who can challenge and encourage you. Having a mentor at your local church, or through an organisation, can grow your faith. They can help you think through your practical next steps and walk alongside you on the journey.
